StartStop Podcast Recorder

This policy explains how the StartStop Podcast Recorder app handles local recordings, account data, uploads, diagnostics, and streaming configuration.

Last updated: June 8, 2026

Summary

The app can be used without signing in. In that mode, videos stay local on the iPhone or iPad and are not uploaded automatically. Signing in is required to list podcast events, upload recordings, check remote status, or open remote StartStop assets.

Data The App May Handle

Local Recordings

Recordings are stored locally on the device. The app does not delete recordings automatically. A recording is removed only if the user explicitly chooses the local delete action.

Uploads

When signed in, the user may upload selected recordings to the StartStop platform. Solo recordings may be sent to the StartStop processing flow. Multi-device recordings may be uploaded to StartStop storage as separate clips in the same project. Uploads include file checksums and technical metadata needed to complete and validate the transfer.

Camera, Microphone, Local Network, and Background Upload

The app requests camera and microphone access to record video and audio. Local network access may be used for multi-iPhone sync or local network video output such as NDI. Background transfer capability may be used to continue or resume uploads.

Security

Authentication tokens and streaming secrets are stored using the iOS Keychain where applicable. Secrets such as passwords, OTP codes, cookies, stream keys, and session tokens should not appear in exported diagnostics or visible technical logs.

Tracking and Advertising

The app does not use advertising tracking and is not designed to sell personal data.

Support

For help with the app, use the support page or sign in to the StartStop platform at platform.startstop.ai.
